near the end - bittersweet

It's getting closer and closer to the end of my college career. I've really been feeling it this week thinking about how much I'll miss the city, the lifestyle, and all of the wonderful friends I've made here, it's my best friends I've made here! I had my last day of work today and genuinely felt sad as I was saying bye to everyone. I can't imagine what it's like for those who leave jobs after years and years of working. I was there for just over a year and still felt sad leaving.

I won't miss waiting outside in the dreary, rainy, cold weather for the T for 20 minutes!!! That's for sure. I also won't miss all of the homework (of course!). Why is it that the last week is always so miserable? You would think after 4 years I would learn my lesson to not do things at the very last minute. I don't think that will ever change.

this weekend

Gina came up to visit me Saturday. We walked down Newbury and then went to Faneuil Hall and had lunch and did some shopping. It was such a nice day out! As we were walking I saw these beautiful tulips. I don't usually like tulips but these are so pretty.

Boston Marathon

I went to the Boston Marathon today! I really felt like I was making everyone running feel really great as I cheered them on from the sidelines. I was watching at the 1 mile mark and think the runners really needed the extra enthusiasm to get through the last stretch. Some people even gave me high fives while the were running. It was great and I have a lot of respect for the people that run the marathon. What a huge toll on their bodies, but it must feel amazing. It was inspirational!

Science Experiment

I have been a pretty bad blogger recently, but last week I went on a "field trip" I guess you can call it. This is a picture of the grassy slope we studied. I met with my geography class on the slope by Fenway Park ( you can see it in the distance beyond the parking lot!) to conduct a biodiversity read. Sounds super scientific, but all it was was counting all the living things in a 30 x 30 foot plot of a grassy slope. My job was to lay out the grid. We broke the big plot into 13 sub plots and there was a group for each plot.

All together we came out with about 25 different species of plants which is really cool if you think about how small the area was. It was mostly small plants and grasses with the occasional insect. There were a few spiders and crickets.

I enjoyed the experiment a lot. It was a lot better than classroom lecture. Sometimes I just think I learn better in a setting like that than in a dull classroom, rock hard desks, and awful florescent lighting.

the estate

This Saturday night I went to this club in Boston, The Estate, for my roommate Ashley's birthday celebration. We had a bunch of free passes from one of our friends who interns there luckily because there was a $20 cover! That should give you a sense of how fancy it was. Everyone was wearing dresses and heels. There was even a bathroom attendant who would put soap on your hands for you. It was pretty unnecessary but classy.

I had a lot of fun at the place dancing with all of my friends and there was a Bebe fashion show too. I was standing literally right next to the runway so I saw the models a little too up close and personal.

I thought it was a fun place and I'm glad I experienced it but it was super expensive. I bought 2 mixed drinks and a beer and it cost $30. I also had to pay to get my coat checked which was crazy.

I probably won't go there again but it's always fun to get dressed up and go out in heels with everyone!

nice weather

It has been so nice the past couple of days! I walked home tonight since it was so beautiful. Here's a picture of the sunset!

5 weeks left!!

Haven't posted in a while but not much has been going on!

I went home for Easter this weekend and had an awesome time. Saw lots of friends and family which is always great :) And I got a new phone! The iPhone 3G. I was due for a new phone since my 1st gen. iPhone was getting a little sluggish.

The school countdown is now 5 weeks. 4 weeks of actually classroom time and 5 weeks until my only exam. Really excited :)

Senior Week is coming up too. I'm going to a Red Sox game, Harbor Cruise, Champagne Reception, Comedy show, another Harbor Cruise with my parents and Mike, and a fancy dinner. So much is coming up in so little time!

I'm working on a Kricki Lawn Care website, a Green Magazine and corresponding website, Piping plovers research paper, and various feature stories.

Room selection is starting so starting tomorrow I'll be working till 10 almost every night :( but I'll be making some good $$$.

I'll try and post more often. Tomorrow's should be entertaining because I'm going on a field trip with my geography class to do a biodiversity read of a small area in Boston by Fenway. Should be exciting!
